CHICAGO, IL (January 10, 2006) – North Park sophomore Evie Peterson was named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Women’s Basketball Player of the Week Monday after her performance during the previous week of competition.

Peterson attended Covenant Bible College-Canada last year and attends Eagan Covenant Church in Eagan, Minnesota.

Peterson was instrumental in the Vikings’ 65-55 victory over conference rival and defending national champion Millikin on Saturday. She scored 19 points and recorded four rebounds and three steals in the upset over the 22nd ranked team in the country. To read an account of that contest, please see Millikin.

Surridge says Peterson and College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) All-Conference player Megan Slattery have worked well together both on defense and offense. Opponents have overplayed Slattery, giving Peterson more looks.

That lack of attention could change quickly. “She’s been an unknown to other teams but I’m sure that won’t last long,” says Surridge. “She’s also a very good student, which fits our program and who we are,” the coach added.
