CHICAGO, IL (January 4, 2006) – Early bird registrations for CHIC 2006: No Ordinary Day are due Monday, says Kirsten Bell, CHIC coordinator. CHIC once again will be held July 16-21 on the campus of the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.

The early registration rate is $455, which is $40 off the regular registration fee of $495. Registration fees include room, board, and attendance to main events, workshops, on-campus recreational opportunities and other activities.

Early registrations and student scholarship applications must be postmarked no later than January 9 to the University of Tennessee. Church checks should be made payable to “University of Tennessee.”

Student scholarship applications should be attached to the student registration form when a group’s registration forms are mailed to the University of Tennessee, Bell says.

The most recent versions of student, staff, and group registration forms can be downloaded at CHIC Registration Forms. These versions should be used if previous forms have not been completed, Bell says. Some youth leaders find emailing the registration forms to their students saves time and the hassle of students and leaders misplacing registration forms.

Once students and adults are registered for CHIC, they will receive excursion registration information in their confirmation packet from the University of Tennessee. Several new excursions (with limited spaces available) will be offered during CHIC 2006, including horseback riding, duckies (inflatable kayaks), and a second white water river option for experienced rafters. Excursions are sold on a first-come first-served basis. Registering early helps to ensure students they will get first choice, Bell notes. For a list of excursion options and prices go to Excursion Options.

When making travel arrangements, groups can schedule to arrive one day early on campus and in most cases check into their assigned housing. A $25-per-person pre-registration payment is required for this option, Bell says.

Early bird excursions are available on Sunday for those who arrive on Saturday, Bell says. Saturday night stays have helped some groups reduce their airfare costs and increase their flight options, she notes.

Anyone with questions can post them on the CHIC forums page at Questions. Questions also can be submitted by email at chic2006@covchurch.org or by calling the CHIC hotline at 800-910-2442.
