Tuesday Funeral Service for Thomas L. Dice

PRINCE ALBERT, SASKATCHEWAN (November 21, 2005) – The funeral service for retired Covenant pastor Thomas L. Dice, 86, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Gateway Covenant Church here. He died Friday.

Dice was born in Prince Albert on August 24, 1919. He was ordained in 1953 and served the pastorates at Calvary Covenant Church in Prince Albert; Erickson Covenant Church in Erickson, British Columbia; and Hillsview Covenant Church in Gresham, Oregon. Dice also was the acting president of Covenant Bible Institute (now Covenant Bible College).

While at Gresham, he earned his Master of Education degree in educational psychology from the University of Oregon. He previously studied at the University of Saskatchewan and Lutheran Theological Seminary, both in Saskatoon, as well as North Park Theological Seminary.

He later became a school counselor for Prince Albert and led the establishment of a program for special needs children. While still a school counselor, he served non-Covenant congregations in Northside and Deer Ridge. Dice also helped establish the Nor-Sask Christian Counseling Center in Prince Albert.

His first wife, Violet, died in 1975. Survivors include his wife, Sharon, and five children: David, Linea Lanoie, Anne Abramoff, Faith Campbell and Joy Kinderchuk.
