LISLE, IL (December 30, 2004)  – Megan Slattery scored 15 points, but it wasn’t  enough to prevent the North Park University (NPU) women’s basketball  team from losing a 62-54 nonleague game at Benedictine University  Wednesday night.

Laura Mount added 10 points and produced five assists for the Vikings,  which fell to 5-3 after playing their first game in 26 days. NPU plays a  2 p.m. contest at Augustana College Friday to open the College  Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin season.

Tamika Curtis scored 19 points for the home team while Amanda Burditt  added 16 as the Eagles moved to 4-6 overall. Curtis scored 11 of her  points in the first 20 minutes as Benedictine took a 29-23 halftime  edge. The Eagles never trailed thereafter as they took a 41-29 lead midway through the second half and coasted from there.

Meghan Hunstock of First Covenant Church in Minneapolis played well off  the bench for NPU, scoring nine points and grabbing seven rebounds in 17  minutes. Shandrel Young led the Vikings in rebounding with nine while  Lauren Martin added five assists to share team honors with Mount.
