CHICAGO, IL (December 28, 2004)  – Applications are being accepted for a  position as administrative assistant to the executive vice president of  the Evangelical Covenant Church. The position will be available in  mid-January.

This full-time position is responsible for taking and transcribing notes  on a computer, supporting the work of the Stewardship Commission,  composing and typing routine correspondence, managing the day-to-day  operations of the department, supporting the work of the President’s  Circle including mailings and receipting and acknowledging gifts,  answering the telephone and arranging conference calls. The position  also is responsible for coordinating the executive vice president’s  schedule and numerous other office-related duties. A complete job  description is available upon request.

The successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal,  organizational, and communication skills as well as the ability to  handle a variety of tasks and responsibilities in a professional and  prompt manner. The position demands accuracy, the ability to show  respect and sensitivity for cultural differences and the ability to  maintain strict confidentiality. The individual must have the ability to  work with limited direction, take initiative and have the ability to  plan and carry out responsibilities with limited supervision. Good  judgment is necessary. The individual must be courteous and relate well  to internal and external constituencies. The person must be tactful,  possess highly developed communication skills in English (written and  verbal), and be able to communicate effectively with staff and others  with whom this position has contact.

The successful candidate also will have a bachelor’s degree from a  four-year college or university, two to three years of related  experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and  experience, proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access  and familiarity with the Internet and e-mail systems.
