LAKELAND, FL (December 23, 2003)  – Funeral services were held on December 2 at Lake Morton Community Church in Lakeland for ordained Covenant pastor Paul F. Lundgren, who died November 27 of heart failure at his home.

The 80-year-old had served for many years with the Evangelical Alliance Mission as a missionary to Pakistan and the eastern seaboard of the United States. He had lived in Lakeland since 1989 and had attended Lake Morton Community.

Born December 9, 1922 in Columbus Heights, Minnesota, Lundgren completed studies at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago in 1944 with a Mission major and attended North Park College and North Park Theological Seminary in Chicago for portions of his education as well. He was attending the college shortly after marrying Virginia “Ginger” Zaring on April 20, 1944. He was ordained at the 1950 Annual Meeting of the Evangelical Covenant Church.

In 1945, Lundgren began full-time ministry as a youth evangelist and singer, traveling for eight months with the evangelism staff at Moody Bible Institute. He then served at Maplewood Covenant Church in Chicago from 1945-47 and then with the Evangelical Covenant Tabernacle Church of Kewanee, Illinois, from 1947-53. He began his missionary service after that.

Lundgren is survived by his wife, Virginia; son, Paul “Skip” Lundgren of Arlington Heights, Illinois; daughters Winona “Nonie” Wakeman of Minneapolis, and Valerie Weinstein of Warsaw, Indiana; and three grandchildren.
