Vikings Drop Opener to Carthage College

KENOSHA, WI (December 9, 2002) – Despite 18 points by freshman Shandrel Young, North Park University (NPU) lost its College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin opener at Carthage College Saturday night to fall to 2-4 overall.

NPU made just 10 of 51 field goal tries against Carthage. The Vikings were more successful offensively in a 61-50 non-CCIW game at Concordia University last Thursday. Young contributed 12 points, seven rebounds, four assists in the win while Amy Stoltz and Angie Wood paced the NPU attack with 13 points apiece.

In men’s action, NPU improved to 7-1 overall by beating The Apprentice School of Virgina 79-67 on Saturday afternoon at the Carthage Classic. Michael Lewis made the All-Tourney team for the Vikings, who beat Wisconsin Lutheran College 83-77 on Friday. Lewis scored 14 points and made all four of his 3-point shots in the Wisconsin Lutheran victory.
