One Penny At a Time

We love hearing from our churches, especially stories of congregations coming together to see lives changed, even their own! While dialoguing with Pastor Tim Shekleton at Bethlehem Covenant Church, he excitedly shared about how a child’s change will change lives. Here is what his wife Cheryl captures it:

In October 2012, the Sunday School classes at Bethlehem Covenant Church began sponsoring Nzula from the DR Congo through Covenant Kids Congo. The elementary students continue to bring an offering every week. We have written letters and send pictures. We always remember to pray for Nzula and that God would give her what she needs that week.

On a recent Sunday, a girl came in carrying a gallon bag full of pennies that she had saved. There was more than $24 worth of pennies!

We have raised $480 each year for 2 years in a row – that’s $960 in only 18 months! Everyone agreed unanimously to continue our support another year. We can share the love of Jesus with Nzula and change the world by sharing what God has given to us – one penny at a time.
