“The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them.” Isaiah 11:6
The Mission
In this passage, Isaiah is depicting how these, which are characteristically different, will co-exist peacefully, and that they would be led to do so by a little child. This scripture embodies the mission of Covenant Kids Congo powered by World Vision: to work together, united in partnership across geographical, denominational, and organizational confines for a revolutionary movement to holistically support our brothers and sisters of Congo.
The children of Congo are calling out to us. In a country ranked in the bottom eight countries for acute malnutrition and one in which 82,000 children under age five die each year from malaria, the children of the Province of Equateur are challenging us with an opportunity. They have taken up the charge to “lead us,” as the scripture says, but not in the traditional sense of leading by showing us the way. Rather, they stand in a space of need that they might draw us to where they stand, channeling our energy and resources for such a time as this, and inspiring us to “answer the call,” that we might be transformed by the opportunity to stand alongside them. The children of Congo are serving as a conduit which will connect us to something bigger than ourselves, allowing us the opportunity for a divine moment in giving of ourselves, sharing of our resources, and serving in the capacity to which God has called each of us: to be the hands and the feet of the Spirit.
