VISTA, CA (February 29, 2012) – Outreach magazine has named Scot McKnight’s book The King Jesus Gospel: The Original Good News Revisited as “Resource of the Year” in the evangelism category. McKnight is the Karl A. Olsson Professor in Religious Studies at North Park University.

The magazine gave special recognition to 20 resources in categories that include compassion and justice ministries, missional living, and cross-cultural ministries. The list is published in the magazine’s just-released March/April 2012 issue. Click here to view the complete list.

About 170 resources published between Nov. 1, 2010, and Oct. 31, 2011, were submitted to Outreach for consideration – the most submissions in the last four years, according to the magazine. Outreach editors narrowed the field to 122 and placed them in categories.

The magazine then enlisted the help of an expert in each category to consider the resources.

Each panelist independently evaluated and selected the resources in their area of expertise. The experts chose how many resources to recognize in their respective categories.

Covenant News Service published an interview with McKnight about the book last November. Click here to order the book.
