CHICAGO, IL (September 15, 2011) – For the second time in two years, the North Park University Vikings men’s soccer team is ranked among the nation’s Top 10 Division III teams as determined by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).

The Vikings (4-0-1) were unranked in preseason polls, but earned the No. 10 ranking on D3Soccer.com based on their performances against two of the country’s best teams.

On September 4, North Park earned a 2-0 victory over Dominican University, then ranked No. 7. The Vikings followed that performance on September 10 when they played to a double-overtime 0-0 tie with UW-Oshkosh, which was ranked No. 8 at the time.

The Vikings made a similar move up the polls in 2009, when they began the season unranked and reached as high as No. 8.

The Vikings currently are the only undefeated team in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin, considered to be among the toughest in the country. North Park returns to action this weekend when it travels to North Carolina to take on Methodist University at 11 a.m. Saturday and NC Wesleyan at 1 p.m. Sunday.
