EAGLE RIVER, AK (October 7, 2010) – A search process is under way for a new field director to lead the Evangelical Covenant Church of Alaska (ECCAK) regional office, replacing retiring Field Director Rodney Sawyer.

The search is being conducted under the direction of the ECCAK General Council.

The search committee conducted its initial meeting on August 13 and 14 to identify various steps in the search process.

Names of potential candidates are being sought from ECCAK members and Evangelical Covenant churches in the U.S. and Canada. Those interested in submitting names for consideration may do so by emailing the names, along with a brief description of each nominee and the reason for nominating the individual.

The group will meet in early November and again in early January. Plans call for a nominee to be presented during the ECCAK Annual Meeting at Anchorage First Covenant Church April 6-10.

Dave Olson, executive minister of the Department of Church Growth and Evangelism, expressed his appreciation to the current field director. “Rodney has done a superb job as field director for the last seven-plus years, with his wife, Nancy, actively participating in the ministry,” Olson said. “He has chosen to not run for a third term and is looking forward to retirement. We will miss Rodney and Nancy and so appreciate their ministry to Alaska and the larger Covenant family.

“Please pray that God will work through this process to help us identify the right person to lead ECCAK into God’s future.”
