Covenant Seeks Director for Advancement Candidates

CHICAGO, IL (August 3, 2010) – The Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC) is establishing a new donor advancement office to better relate to, support, and engage individuals in their vision for financially investing in God’s work around the world through the Covenant.

As part of that process, a search for a founding executive director is under way.

“The generosity and sacrifice of individual Covenanters in support of our mission is exemplary,” says ECC President Gary Walter. “It will be increasingly important moving forward that we take advantage of all of the God-orchestrated opportunities in front of us. With the dramatic growth of those new to the Covenant, there are undoubtedly many more who would invest if they better knew all that we are doing.”

The Alford Group, which specializes in assisting non-profit organizations, is conducting the executive director search. Following is information from the Alford Group website, including a link to the Opportunity Guide for interested applicants with appropriate experience.

The Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC) located in Chicago, Illinois, has retained Alford Group Executive Search to identify an outstanding individual who has the proven experience and qualifications to build and lead the denomination’s office for donor advancement. The Executive Director for Advancement will be responsible for all aspects of the Evangelical Covenant Church’s individual-focused philanthropic programming (exclusive of affiliated institutions such as North Park University).

A strong candidate will demonstrate a successful track record in building a development office and have personal experience in soliciting gifts from individuals, staff development and planning and resource management. A passion for the mission of the Evangelical Covenant Church is essential. The Opportunity Guide will provide additional information regarding this position and the opportunity at the ECC.
