ESTES PARK, CO (April 22, 2010) – Tom Cousineau, executive director of Covenant Heights Camp and Retreat Center who was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident while traveling in Thailand last month, returned to Estes Park Monday night.

An ambulance transported Cousineau from the airport to his home, where a hospital bed has been set up, says Karen Hallberg, Department of World Mission director of mobilization and connection.

He has remained in good spirits despite continuing pain. “Tom was regaling his friends with stories of the Thailand adventure as they drove him up the mountain last night,” said Hallberg, who has talked with his wife, Connie.

Cousineau was injured March 30 when the motorcycle he was riding skidded on the road and struck an electric utility pole. He suffered four broken ribs, a broken arm, a broken leg, and one broken toe. Doctors also removed his spleen.

Cousineau and two other directors of Evangelical Covenant Church camps had been traveling in Thailand, working alongside the Thai Covenant Church as they develop camp properties and a vision for their ministries.
