MIAMI, FL (February 5, 2010) – A lot of churches will be hosting Super Bowl parties this Sunday, but members of Kingdom Covenant Ministries will be watching with special interest—Bobby McCray Jr., the New Orleans Saints defensive end (93), grew up attending the church.

McCray’s parents, Bobby Sr. and Brenda, as well as other family members still worship at Kingdom Covenant. “We watched football games all season long with hopes that the Saints would be in the Super Bowl, and when they made it, we were ecstatic,” says Ed Carey, who co-pastors the church with his wife, Anita.

The church will host a Super Bowl party with McCray’s family and friends in attendance. “The only thing better than attending the Super Bowl will be if the Saints win,” says Anita Carey. “Then we will certainly have something to talk about for years to come.”

McCray appeared in all 15 regular season games. It was the 6-foot-6, 262-pound lineman who nearly knocked Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner out of the playoff game between the two teams on January 16.

McCray played seven years with the Jacksonville Jaguars before the Saints signed him to a five-year contract as a free agent prior to the 2008 season.
