SOLDOTNA, AK – (December 16, 2011) – Alaska Christian College President Keith Hamilton is the winner of Seattle Pacific University’s 2012 Alumni Medallion Award, it was announced today.

Award recipients are leaders within their chosen professions who reflect the values and ideals of Seattle Pacific University (SPU) and are active in their communities. He will receive his award during homecoming celebrations at the university on January 26.

A 1984 graduate of Seattle Pacific, Hamilton says it was during his senior year that he sensed God’s call to serve in Mexico City with Covenant World Mission. “I was blessed to be discipled by Robert Drovdahl, my Christian education professor, for the two years I was at Seattle Pacific,” Hamilton says. “His time with me and other students left a lasting impression on the role of discipleship in my life as I continued through my ministry years.”

Hamilton went on to earn a master’s degree in divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary.

“I am surprised and honored to be a Medallion Award recipient,” Hamilton says. “I am excited for what the future of higher Christian education holds as I serve here at Alaska Christian College. Seattle Pacific University gave me a future as the education there prepared me towards both my practical next steps in ministry and the seminary training that was to follow on SPU’s campus through the Fuller Seminary extension.

“I am grateful for all who supported me through those early developing years of preparing for ministry in the Covenant Church.”

Alaska Christian College (ACC), which is part of the Evangelical Covenant Church, pursues its vision to empower Alaska natives through biblically based education and Christian formation to pursue excellence in character, learning, and to serve as followers of Christ.

Founded in 1891 as a Christian school, Seattle Pacific University seeks to equip individuals to engage the culture and change the world, serving 4,000 undergraduate and graduate students.
