Christine has a heart for orphans in Ndop<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
Christina is a godly Cameroonian woman.\u00a0 Her husband died quite young, and she was left to raise her children alone.\u00a0\u00a0 For income she took a job helping a missionary family\u00a0<\/a>with household chores.\u00a0 Missionaries Yves & Christine and their young\u00a0children lived in\u00a0the village of Ndjibot learning and analyzing\u00a0the Baka\u00a0language with the goal of translating the Bible for this pygmie people group. \u00a0Christina went with them to help cook, clean and care for the children, leaving her own children in the care of relatives.\u00a0\u00a0In Ndjibot she\u00a0wondered why these missionaries spent all their time\u00a0studying the language and not evangelizing.\u00a0 She did not yet\u00a0understand the\u00a0role of linguistics in the\u00a0process of Bible translation.\u00a0 So the Lord laid it on her heart to witness to the Baka\u00a0people\u00a0about Jesus and\u00a0start a church in that village. \u00a0She and the missionary wife became prayer partners for many years.<\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
Christina has a heart for orphans.\u00a0 Now that she is no longer helping the missionary family, she has established an orphanage in\u00a0the town of Ndop (which is a fun word to say*).\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Her own\u00a0children are grown and have jobs, so\u00a0they are able to\u00a0help support\u00a0their mother’s orphanage somewhat.\u00a0 Still she struggles to\u00a0make ends meet.\u00a0<\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
Three\u00a0orphaned children are\u00a0living with Christina in Ndop now.\u00a0 Soon she expects a fourth to join her.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0She also assists other orphans who are living with aging grandparents.\u00a0\u00a0To\u00a0gain income to support the orphanage, Christina\u00a0has begun\u00a0raising pigs.\u00a0 Years ago she was trained in pig farming\u00a0by\u00a0Heiffer Project International<\/a>, (HPI)\u00a0\u00a0so she does have some\u00a0experience.\u00a0<\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
Hearing Christine’s story, her passion for taking care of orphaned children, and knowing she had asked no one for financial assistance just made me want to\u00a0come alongside\u00a0her.\u00a0\u00a0I wanted to encourage her in a concrete way. When I asked how we could help, she wrote up a project proposal for improving the enclosure for the pigs, increasing her pig stock and buying bulk quantity of\u00a0feed.\u00a0<\/div>\n

\u00a0<\/div>\n
\u00a0Each year Women Ministries of the Covenant Church offer project funds to long term Covenant missionaries.\u00a0 This year I’ve submitted Christina’s proposal.\u00a0 Just the other day I was able to give her the money.\u00a0 She is\u00a0so thankful for this first financial\u00a0gift from someone other than family.\u00a0\u00a0She told me,\u00a0“I wish I could open my heart so that you could see all the gratitude inside.\u00a0 She plans to purchase sacs of cement and gravel soon to get started fixing up the pig pen.\u00a0<\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
Thank God with us for the project funds\u00a0made available by Covenant Women Ministries.\u00a0 And pray for Christina, the orphans she cares for as well as\u00a0 the many orphans in Ndop who are not yet being cared for.<\/div>\n
