Backlund"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>NORTHBROOK, IL (May 23, 2008) \u2013 A memorial service for Inez E. Backlund, 95, will be conducted at 2 p.m. May 29 at Northbrook Covenant Church.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nBacklund, the widow of Evangelical Covenant Church pastor Oscar Backlund, died Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>She was born May 21, 1913, in Lindsborg, Kansas. The couple was married January 9, 1938, in Lindsborg, Kansas. He went on to serve Covenant churches in Washington, D.C.; Rochester, New York; Stamford, Connecticut; Bronx, New York; and Hammond, Indiana. He died in 1987.<\/p>\n<p>Survivors include her daughter, Beth Summers; and a son, Paul Backlund; grandchildren and great grandchildren.<\/p>\n<p>Memorials may be directed to either North Park Theological Seminary, 3225 W. Foster Ave, Chicago, IL, 60025; or the Department of World Mission, Evangelical Covenant Church, 5101 N.
