Roughly 13,000 people participated in the event, which lasted almost three hours. Lincoln Brewster, one of the pastors at Bayside in Granite Bay, led the musical worship. Special events for children also were conducted.
Money raised will benefit two public schools and one private school, where nearly all of the students live below the poverty level:
• Northwood Elementary School in the North Sacramento School District will receive a fence aimed at reducing gang activity on campus during off-school hours.
• Mark Hopkins Elementary School in the Sacramento City Unified School District in south Sacramento will receive a technology upgrade, including new computers.
• Playground and fitness equipment will go to the Aldar Academy in Sacramento, which specializes in teaching children who are disabled.
This was the second time the Bayside congregations have worshiped together at the arena, home to the Sacramento Kings of the NBA and the Sacramento Monarchs of the WNBA. The churches previously assembled at Arco in 2005.
Bayside Covenant was planted in 1995 and has since expanded to nine congregations in the Sacramento area. There were only three locations when the congregations worshipped together at Arco the first time.
