Hello friends…it’s been awhile. As we are finding our way in this new reality after the death of my parents, I’m slowly getting back to writing and posting. Grieving is hard work and it certainly is surprising in the ways it manifests itself during an ordinary day. I’m reading a fascinating book called The Grieving Brain,<\/em> which has helped to give words to some of what I am experiencing. It’s helped me to be compassionate with myself, as there are days I get frustrated that I’m not functioning at 100%.<\/p>\r\n

Thank you for your grace, patience and prayers. Life continues to move forward and there have been many hopeful and joyful moments in the midst of the grief. Julio has been with our friends in the Embera Katio Community this week. He was teaching a course and introducing friends from Medellin to the community. I, Katie, have had a blast teaching the children’s ministry course at the seminary. I’m encouraged to see the students engage in the course and discover how important children are to God and the church. In addition, our boys have been busy with school and other activities. Believe it or not, the oldest has started behind the wheel and will soon have his driver’s license here. We had time together as a family with our colleagues (who are like family) on a short retreat.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

The next months are full and we appreciate your prayers as we live into each day.<\/p>\r\n
