Henry Rodriguez was the first person I met on my first visit to Colombia. I had traveled from Ecuador, where I was living, to Cartagena to attend a youth camp hosted by the Covenant Church of Colombia. I remember I was received at the hotel by Henry, the President of the National Youth Organization. Little did I know 21 years ago (how is it possible it was that long ago?!) that I would end up living in Colombia and Henry and his wife Diana would be come very dear friends.<\/p>\r\n

Henry is a teacher by profession at a public high school and has several degrees in history, philosophy and humanities. He is also one of the students who completed the 4 years of study in the certificate programs offered in collaboration with the Covenant Church of Colombia and the Biblical Seminary. He is a life-long student and is always looking for opportunities to learn!<\/p>\r\n

So, when Julio was helping to put together the teaching schedule for this year’s certificate in Bible and Ministry courses, it was a no-brainer to ask Henry to teach the Church History course. One of the goals of this theological education is to equip people to serve the church and equip others. Henry has always been eager to serve and his experience as a student in the certificate program in Bible and Ministry led him to accept the invitation. This month, Henry taught the course online and traveled to three different cities to teach the last session in person. It was a rewarding experience for the students and for Henry as he was able to meet many of the new leaders that are being equipped. I recently visited Monteria and had the opportunity to talk with two of the students who are in the certificate program, who shared how enriched they were from having Henry as a teacher.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

Thank God for others who have studied in the theological education program through the certificates and are also serving as teacher’s assistants and teachers in upcoming courses. Praise God for the fruit that we have seen in this process, where students are equipped to lead and teach others.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n
