“I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways. I delight in your decrees, I will not neglect your word.” Psalm 119:15-17<\/p>\n

When was the last time you delighted in God’s word? Like really delighted in it? Is Bible study something you engage in regularly? Do you meditate on God’s word? These are questions that come to mind as I read the words of the Psalm above. What a gift God’s word is and yet what time am I giving to really immerse myself in it?<\/p>\n

One of the things I love about being a part of Christian community is the way that others challenge me to grow. And over the months I’ve been challenged as I have seen a dedicated group of students from “Fuente de Salvacion Covenant Church” in Itagui meet regularly to learn from God’s word and dig in to Scriptures. Julio leads the class every two weeks and it always goes over the allotted 2 hours as the group discusses, shares stories from their own lives, and studies Scripture. They can’t get enough. This is truly a group of people that is hungry and thirsty to know God more through his word and be transformed by his Spirit. And the stories of how God has been and continues to transform their lives are unbelievable. Like a student who went from gang member to Bible student. This is transformation.<\/p>\n

This past week they had their last class for the course on Old Testament. The test was supposed to take an hour. Julio gave them each markers and poster paper and each student gave a summary of one or more of the Old Testament books of the Bible. The students were drawn into the assignment and were so thoroughly enjoying it that they ended up taking 2.5 hours to finish. The posters were hung up in the sanctuary as a testimony to the learning they are doing and the commitment they have shown. They were so proud of the work they had done. What a phenomenal group of men and women who are highly invested in growing as disciples and serving their local church community. They encourage me to go deeper, to delight in God’s word.<\/p>\n
