A morning on the lake<\/p><\/div>\n

There is something so life-giving about going away on a retreat. This month Julio and I have both had the opportunity to participate in a retreat, which has allowed us the chance to spend some much needed time in nature, connecting with God and others. Julio spent last\u00a0weekend with over 300 men from River City Christian (formerly known as First Covenant Sacramento). The theme for the weekend was \u201cJump\u201d and Julio had the opportunity to lead a seminar that focused on Jumping into God\u2019s mission. The conversations with the men were deep as they talked about God\u2019s invitation to serve locally and globally.<\/p>\n

There was a good group of men present at the retreat who had served on a team in Colombia, as the men\u2019s group has been partnering with Colombia for over 8 years, sending teams to serve. Together, the men at the retreat spent time sharing stories and Julio was able to give updates as to how the different churches are growing and how the leaders in Colombia continue to serve faithfully.<\/p>\n

This weekend, I, Katie had the opportunity to participate with the women of the Central Conference in a retreat in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Over 250 women came together from places like Madison, Milwaukee, and Chicago for a fun weekend of learning together, worship, play, and service.<\/p>\n

I was especially grateful for the women of Milwaukee Covenant who warmly welcomed me into their cabin and made me feel like a part of the group. These women are so talented and have such a heart to help others grow and experience God. During the workshop time I was able to facilitate conversation around the theme of discipleship as a journey we\u2019re on together. It was good to hear from their experiences and share about the friends I\u2019ve had the privilege to know in Colombia. We have so much to learn from each other. What a joy to connect with friends from our Latino church in Douglas Park and spend some time speaking Spanish and hearing about how life is going for them.<\/p>\n

Taking a retreat or participating in a retreat is such a needed spiritual discipline in our fast-paced world. What a gift it was for both Julio and I.<\/p>\n
