I must admit that the start of a new year is always a bit nerve-wracking for me (Katie). I always wonder what the new year will hold, what objectives will be met, what new things will be learned, how we’ll keep balance in our lives, etc. At the same time there is something exhilarating about starting a new year and the possibilities it holds. As we move into February, there are good things happening! This week Julio will be participating in a meeting with denominational leaders and pastors to define some important relationships, ministry partnerships, etc. We are encouraged by the conversations that are happening.<\/p>\n

This past week we had some great dialogue with the core team of people that has been meeting over the past year, asking the question, what does it mean to be a church that engages young adults and university students. There was a spirit of unity, of thankfulness for the relationships that have been formed and a sense of excitement moving forward. Please pray for this group of people that will be taking on new leadership, speaking into the vision and ministry of the group, and discipling others.<\/p>\n

Lately the Evangelical community has come under some scrutiny in Colombia because of some discriminating comments made by a leader in a church (not of our denomination). So as a group much of our conversation last night revolved around, “What does it mean to be a Christian? A follower of Christ? How do we live out the gospel? How do non-Christians perceive Christians? How do we respond when people label us according to what they are seeing in the media?” These are key questions that come up over and over again. Pray for us as we engage these questions.<\/p>\n
