<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;\">The ECCK poultry project at Kitengela Covenand  Church is providing far more abundantly th<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;\">a<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-325\" title=\"layers1\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2009\/09\/layers1-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"layers1\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;\">n the church could have imagined when  they proposed it. <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;\">We went to just outside Nairobi to  visit<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;\"> the Covenant World Relief (CWR) poultry project.\u00a0 While the intent of the  project was to raise broilers and laying hens, sell the broilers and eggs and  use the profits to help the church in its outreach to the community and to  provide employment, the reality of the project is beyond what the church  imagined it would be.\u00a0 In July a group of needy refugees from eastern Congo got  connected t<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;\">o the church through a family member attending the Covenant Church in  Concord, NH.\u00a0 Using a portion of the receipts of the sale of eggs and broilers,  the church has been able to help the Congolese with food and other basic  necessities, providing jobs as egg salespersons, English lessons and more.\u00a0 In  addition the church has stepped out to be an advoc<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;\">ate for the refugees in their  search for jobs and a place in Kenyan society.\u00a0 They have researched the  requirements for the trained nurse and the <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;\">lawyer to get employment in their  fields. <\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;\">The project <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;\">started  in <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;\">December 2008 with the construction of the simple building.\u00a0\u00a0They received  their first chicks in Jan<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;\">u<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-326\" title=\"simon-explaining-project1\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2009\/09\/simon-explaining-project1-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"simon-explaining-project1\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;\">ary.\u00a0 They started selling broilers\u00a06 weeks  later\u00a0while the\u00a0chicks for laying continued to g<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;\">row.\u00a0\u00a0They have had a couple  problems along the way and r<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;\">eceived additional funds from CWR.\u00a0 Today the  project is firmly on its feet and providing regular resources to the <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;\">church for  its ministries.\u00a0 Pastor Si<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;\">mon Kamau and Duncan Ngoima have a very good  understanding of the business of the project and readily gave us figures of  inco<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;\">me, expenses and <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;\">profits.\u00a0 We thank the Lord for these gifted leaders and  for the support of CWR without which this project <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-327\" title=\"chick-close\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2009\/09\/chick-close-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"chick-close\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;\">would<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;\"> not have been possible. <\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;\"> <\/span><\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-report-this\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/ekstrand?moderation_action=report_form&object_type=post&object_id=312&width=250&height=300\" class=\"thickbox\" title=\"Report This Post\">Report This Post<\/a><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tuesday:\u00a0 Poultry project is doing great!
