Friday evening, February 12 we enjoyed our niece Kirsten Ekstrand’s junior recital at Moody. She played 2 beautiful sacred pieces plus works by Brahms, Beethoven and Chopin. She gave an OUTSTANDING performance. Bravo Kirsten.
Then on Valentine’s Day we rode with Rachel and Ryan to hear nephew Kirk Landin’s junior jazz saxophone recital at the U of Illinois, Champaign. Whereas Kirsten played most pieces as solos, Kirk played with his jazz combo. Kirk and the combo played a variety of jazz styles. It was wonderful.
