Yay!\u00a0 We picked the coffee cherries, dehusked them, soaked them, dried them, deskinned them, roasted them, ground them, and then made a delicious cup of coffee!!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I was so relieved to have the final product, steaming hot coffee freshly ground and brewed, pass the taste test.\u00a0 Especially because the first batch, which yielded barely a cup of coffee, tasted a bit more like shrubbery might, rather than coffee.\u00a0 I hadn’t roasted the beans enough.\u00a0 This time, I roasted them until they started snapping and turned a nice shiny dark brown, resorting to a frying pan after using the air popcorn popper.\u00a0 One of the steps in the process is removing the inner skin, and that is a bear.<\/p>\n

We are establishing relationships with the local people groups through compassion ministries; Roy through agriculture and Aleta through public health and visitation, in order, ultimately, to share the good news of Jesus the Messiah with them. CAR is one of the least developed countries in the world and is currently in continual crisis (since the coup in March 2013), so reaching out in compassion is key to reaching their hearts.
