What joy our friends express when the month of fasting is over.\u00a0 They welcome us with smiles and hot sugary tea and when we got to my friend H\u2019s house, a hot meal was provided, accompanied by constant urgings \u2013 \u201cEat!\u00a0 Eat!\u00a0 You haven\u2019t eaten a thing!\u00a0 Eat! Drink!\u201d.\u00a0 It is always a special time to visit and celebrate, to greet the children with a \u201cBarka de salaa\u201d (blessing of peace) and a piece of candy.\u00a0 It is also a chance to share about the Lord\u2019s gift of grace, that requires no fasting or fulfilling of a list of works.<\/p>\n

We are establishing relationships with the local people groups through compassion ministries; Roy through agriculture and Aleta through public health and visitation, in order, ultimately, to share the good news of Jesus the Messiah with them. CAR is one of the least developed countries in the world and is currently in continual crisis (since the coup in March 2013), so reaching out in compassion is key to reaching their hearts.
