One of the first things we did when we arrived to Washington was to attend a leadership conference. We were blessed to hear from Lenore Three Stars as she shared about being a Native American in a white church. She spoke from her heart and opened our eyes, quoting statistics such as the fact that after 500 years of church exposure, only 5% of Native Americans are actively involved in the church. The reasons are heart rending, the most important of course, being white man’s murderous takeover of the U.S.
\nWe also heard from Dave Kersten; he encouraged us to keep a close guard on our inner life, speaking from Heb. 12:1-3 He asked us to look up and see the cloud of witnesses, throw off anything that encumbers us as we run the race, to lock eyes with Jesus, and to hold the JOY!<\/p>\n

We are establishing relationships with the local people groups through compassion ministries; Roy through agriculture and Aleta through public health and visitation, in order, ultimately, to share the good news of Jesus the Messiah with them. CAR is one of the least developed countries in the world and is currently in continual crisis (since the coup in March 2013), so reaching out in compassion is key to reaching their hearts.
