Bayside West Community Church in Roseville, CA recently raised money for Covenant Kids Congo powered by World Vision through their Vacation Bible School in July. With the thought of creating something visual for the kids to “get” when they came in the doors every day, a Congolese display home was built. This helped show some of the details of what life may look like for a Congolese family. The theme for the week was “Turn It Up” as children were encouraged to amplify God’s love and light in other areas of the world where it might be needed. Children were inspired to ‘turn up’ their love for the children in Congo through their financial gifts as a way they could make a difference.
The children led by Rob and Holly McGee, children’s ministry pastors, raised close to $1,800 as they brought in change throughout the week. The boys competed against the girls with the boys winning out in the end. Holly received a pie in the face as her reward.
All of this culminated in a Hope event with a portion of the offering being dedicated to Covenant Kids Congo and, so far, 10 sponsorships of Congolese children.
