DETROIT, MI (August 22, 2012) – Covenant Community Care’s new mobile dental program will benefit from the medical ministry’s golf outing on September 8.
The dental ministry provides services to people on the streets of Detroit at various service centers. The program also provides training and practice to dental students from the University of Detroit – Mercy Dental School while exposing them to diverse cultural and socioeconomic groups, teaching them to treat patients with care and compassion.
The outing will take place at the Western Golf and Country Club in Redford. Registration will begin at noon. Time on the driving range and a box lunch will be provided.
A shotgun start will begin at 1:30 p.m. A dinner at 6:30 p.m. will includes prizes, a presentation on the ministry, and a silent auction.
This is the ninth year for the tournament. In the previous eight outings, Covenant Community Care has raised $170,000 to help the ministry establish faith-based health centers in multiple Detroit neighborhoods.

Foreign Ambassadors to Attend Hispanic Heritage Festival
BROOKLYN PARK, MN (August 22, 2012) – Ambassadors from several Latin America countries will be among the guests attending the Hispanic Heritage Festival in Redeemer Covenant Church’s parking lot on Saturday.
The ambassadors will help judge folkloric dance groups representing Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia and Venezuela, as well as other nations that organizers also expect to be represented. Criteria for the judging include the authenticity of groups’ dress, dance and musical choices.
La Bendición Covenant Church and Redeemer are co-sponsoring the event. The festival celebrates the similarities and differences that exist among the 21 Latin American countries.
Different stations will educate attendees about the customs, food and dances of each country.
The festival also represents the continued shared ministry between La Bendición and Redeemer that began in 2008. At that time, Lopez asked Larson if the Hispanic church plant could use the English-speaking church’s building for a Thanksgiving dinner. Both congregations now meet in Redeemer’s building.
A joint soccer ministry that attracted youth from the multicultural community is featured in the August issue of The Covenant Companion.
