Features continue to be added and updated to CovLink, which is free. Although the application has not yet been specifically formatted for tablet devices, the current version of CovLink for smartphones works well on tablets, especially when enlarging the display on the screen.

“A key to effective communications today is providing multiple pathways for individuals to access and interact with information,” notes Don Meyer, executive minister of the Department of Communication, which administers interactive services on behalf of the Covenant, including the Internet, social media and mobile technologies. “It is a fairly straightforward formula,” Meyer explains: “Give people what they want (or need), when they want it, and how they want it.”
The desire for mobility and access-on-demand continues to drive communications and associated technology strategies, Meyer notes. “We also recognize that this growing edge of technology provides an important tool for helping Covenanters to maintain a sense of connectedness and continue to be well informed.”
A recent Pew Internet Project study found that 35 percent of adults in the United States own a smartphone. According to the survey, some 87 percent of smartphone owners access the Internet or email on their handheld devices, including 68 percent who do so on a typical day. When asked what device they normally use to access the Internet, 25 percent of smartphone owners say that they mostly go online using their phone, rather than a computer.
Covenanters can access the daily news published on the denomination’s website as stories appear throughout the day. Users also can read blogs that currently include Christian Formation, CovKids, Covenant World Mission, Covenant World Relief, Re:vive (Congregational vitality), Sustaining Pastoral Excellence, Worship Connect, and Youth Worker Update.
Videos of recent events such as the Feast, Annual Meeting, and Midwinter also are available, as are audio downloads. Links to the Midwinter 2012 and CHIC 2012 sites are accessible through the application. Users can use the Find-A-Church section to locate a nearby Covenant church or congregations in any conference. There is even a tool to quickly connect users with Covenant Facebook and Twitter pages.

Users can also visit the appropriate application store or marketplace on their phones and find it by searching for “CovLink.”
