McGREGOR, MN (June 29, 2012) – A “Flood Fund” has been set up to offset what may be in excess of $100,000 in losses at Covenant Pines Bible Camp that were sustained as a result of historic flooding this week.

The high water has caused extensive damage. The camp does not carry flood insurance other than an extension with limits of $10,000 for water run-off damages, camp officials said.

Round and Davis Lakes are about five feet above their normal water levels. As a result, the ball field is covered with up to three feet of water as is the Davis Lake trail. Access to the camp on county roads was under 14 inches of water.

Flooding also caused one of the septic systems to collapse at Silver Beach. The lower level of the Silver Beach house had a foot of water inside causing significant damage to the walls, flooring, and furniture.

High water also forced officials to cancel Pathfinder and Trailblazer 1 camps as well as two weeks of rentals at Silver Beach Family Area.
