Parking lot -- Before<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

And now for a few stories on what keeps Ron busily happy in his ministry at RFIS as the Director of Technical Services.\u00a0 First story: The parking lot.<\/p>\n

When RFIS moved in to the new site for the start of school last year, the\u00a0parking lot\u00a0needed work, but not on the top of the list.\u00a0 Over the year he had time to work on it.\u00a0 The picture above shows what it was like BEFORE.\u00a0 The curved line of bricks to the right was the outer limit.\u00a0 He then added dirt along that front corner to increase the size. But with heavy rains, it was muddy, cars (and a bus) got stuck, and it risked washing away completely.<\/p>\n

Then one day, he saw this pile of cement blocks left on the property by the previous owner.\u00a0 And his Engineer mind went to work.<\/p>\n

So he dragged the blocks over to the parking lot (with help from machinery, of course)\u00a0and stacked them up to serve as a reinforcement wall.\u00a0 This required his crew to do\u00a0lots of prep work on the dirt in the parking lot.<\/p>\n

Finally the retaining wall was in place and dirt packed in – with drainage\u00a0for the\u00a0heavy rains.\u00a0 With this retaining wall and extra dirt, the number of parking spaces increased dramatically.<\/p>\n

And now, after beautification of flowering plants, here’s how the parking lot looks today!\u00a0 Good job, Ron and crew!<\/p>\n
