who is completely trustworthy.<\/p>\n<p>God is doing amazing things in the lives of the women who come to visit me.\u00a0 Patience was just encouraged to have found me, a sympathetic ear and shoulder to cry on in her crisis.\u00a0 But God is bringing more new\u00a0friends around her.\u00a0 On her 2nd visit to our house, Patience told me that going back to her village is not going to be easy&#8230; she&#8217;s from Congo!\u00a0 &#8220;Aha!&#8221;\u00a0 I thought, &#8220;She needs to meet Ruth &amp; Gabrielle.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_676\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-676\" style=\"width: 383px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/42\/2011\/02\/Gabrielle-Ruth.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-676\" title=\"Gabrielle Ruth\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/42\/2011\/02\/Gabrielle-Ruth.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"383\" height=\"266\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-676\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Gabrielle &amp; Ruth - the joy of the Lord is their strength<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>So a few days later Gabrielle called me.\u00a0 She had medical needs and wanted to see me.\u00a0 So she and Ruth\u00a0came the next day.\u00a0 We had a great visit.\u00a0 I found out more about their lives.\u00a0 Gabrielle still\u00a0suffers physical\u00a0effects\u00a0from having been beaten and raped in the war in Congo (around 1997 or 98).\u00a0 So she&#8217;s seeing a doctor about nerve issues in her head and face.\u00a0 We prayed and I offered a little money.<\/p>\n<p>Then Ruth talked about wanting to get into micro-enterprise.\u00a0 It&#8217;s not the word she used, but the idea is that they would like to teach people how to tie-dye cloth for selling and making things.\u00a0 But they don&#8217;t have the materials.\u00a0 The told me they don&#8217;t want a fish, they want to be taught to fish!\u00a0 Pray as we consider an organization the Covenant should partner with here in Cameroon and what type of compassion\u00a0ministries the Lord is leading us to pursue here.<\/p>\n<p>Finally I told Gabrielle and Ruth about Patience &#8211; how she\u00a0was abandoned by her live-in boyfriend; how she&#8217;s here from Congo and basically homeless, having a temporary\u00a0place to stay.\u00a0 And Gabrielle said, &#8220;Nous ne pouvons pas l&#8217;abandonner!&#8221;\u00a0 We can not abandon her!\u00a0 \u00a0Gabrielle gave me permission to give her phone number to Patience so they can make contact.<\/p>\n<p>Two days later, Patience came over.\u00a0 I told her about Gabrielle and Ruth.\u00a0 I called Gabrielle on my phone (thankfully she answered &#8211; which means her cell phone was charged and turned on!) and handed the phone to Patience.\u00a0 They began right away conversing in Lingala!\u00a0 Patience was SO encouraged to know another Congolese woman in this big city.\u00a0 They made plans to meet the next day.<\/p>\n<p>So the next evening Gabrielle called me again.\u00a0 She had met Patience, and had gone to visit the house where she is staying.\u00a0 And she was able to verify Patience&#8217;s story for me.\u00a0 The home she&#8217;s staying in is owned by a woman who has several children &#8212; no husband to be seen.\u00a0 There is a teenaged girl who can neither hear nor speak.\u00a0 She may have other mental challenges, or maybe just has never been taught.\u00a0 She can do practically nothing for herself, and is locked inside the house all day while others are at school and work.\u00a0 There are younger children who attend school.\u00a0 And the woman of the house goes to market all day every day where she grinds peanuts for a living.\u00a0 Barely able to support her own children, she is not sure how long she can allow Patience to live with her.\u00a0 Wouldn&#8217;t it be wonderful if one day Patience were able to help contribute to that family?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>So, Patience is encouraged to have new friends &#8211; just to have someone to go visit, other women to talk to!\u00a0 And Gabrielle and Ruth are encouraged that, poor as they are, they can be used by God to encourage another in greater need than they.\u00a0 I must admit, when I met Patience I was skeptical &#8211; who told her where I live?\u00a0 How did she know ours is a &#8220;Congo friendly&#8221; house?\u00a0 Is this a scam?\u00a0 But she told me that the first day she came to our house she had prayed, had gone to many houses, and ours just looked like a door she should knock on &#8211; &#8220;like God led her to us&#8221; she said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\">Psalm 40<br \/>\nPatience&#8217;s Psalm<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">\u00a0<sup>1<\/sup> I waited patiently for the LORD;<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0he turned to me and heard my cry.<br \/>\n<sup>2<\/sup> He lifted me out of the slimy pit,<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0out of the mud and mire;<br \/>\nhe set my feet on a rock<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and gave me a firm place to stand.<br \/>\n<sup>3<\/sup> He put a new song in my mouth,<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0a hymn of praise to our God.<br \/>\nMany will see and fear the LORD<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and put their trust in him.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">\u00a0<sup>11<\/sup> Do not withhold your mercy from me, LORD;<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0may your love and faithfulness always protect me.<br \/>\n<sup>12<\/sup> For troubles without number surround me;<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0my sins have overtaken me, and I cannot see.<br \/>\nThey are more than the hairs of my head,<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and my heart fails within me.<br \/>\n<sup>13<\/sup> Be pleased to save me, LORD;<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0come quickly, LORD, to help me.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><sup>17<\/sup> But as for me, I am poor and needy;<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0may the Lord think of me.<br \/>\nYou are my help and my deliverer;<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0you are my God, do not delay.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">P.S.\u00a0 You won&#8217;t believe this &#8212; as I finished typing the above the doorbell rang.\u00a0 It was Gabrielle and Ruth.\u00a0 We talked for over 2 hours.\u00a0 I told them what I wrote here; I read Psalm 40 to them and they agreed it is Patience&#8217;s Psalm.\u00a0 We talked about so many things and mostly they gave glory to God who is their strength and salvation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">And March 8 is the International Womens Day.\u00a0 They have quite a celebration planned for the 4 of us (Ruth, Gabrielle, Patience and me) &#8211;
