Are you tired of hearing about the upcoming presidential election in the US?<\/p>\n

Even those of us living overseas are not spared from exposure to the debates, the commentaries, the mud slinging, the jokes.<\/p>\n

Some consolation is that by November 9, votes will be in and the decision will be made.<\/p>\n

This is election year in the Democratic Republic of Congo too. However, the current President has recently announced that he’s postponing the elections — due in December 2016 — for TWO MORE YEARS!<\/p>\n

As you can imagine, that’s not going over very well<\/a>.<\/p>\n

At this time the unrest it’s causing is pretty well centralized in the capital city of Kinshasa. Our missionary friends live far north of there, but they go in and out of the country through Kinshasa. Or they did. So a couple weeks ago when a couple of\u00a0missionary friends needed to return to the US, and others needed to go in to Congo, our lovely city of Yaounde became the safest international airport.\u00a0It was great fun hosting them on their way to and from Congo.<\/p>\n

It also means we get to have Congo missionary Marta Klein<\/a> living with us for a while (length of stay to be determined). Not that she had to leave Congo due to unrest. No, all is still calm in the area where she serves. But it’s not ok for her to be the only missionary in the area. Kinda lonesome. She and the other missionaries expect to be out of Congo till around January. Pray that Marta discovers how God intends to use her until then.<\/p>\n

Anyhow, before you let the upcoming elections get ya down (if it’s not already too late). At least it’s highly unlikely that President Obama will postpone elections for a couple years<\/a>! (That’s a link to a satyrical “news” site)<\/p>\n
