As we enter the advent season, in preparation of Christmas, and get out the Christmas music — Handel’s Messiah is at the top of the list!<\/p>\n

Q: \u00a0What do Handel’s Messiah and Cameroon roads have in common?<\/p>\n

A: \u00a0Isaiah 40:4 \u00a0“Every valley shall be exalted and every mountain and hill made low, the crooked straight and the rough places plain.<\/p>\n

Now that the rains have pretty much quit, Ron has been out on the road to our houses making the rough places plain.<\/p>\n

Some of the rough places in our neighborhood<\/p>\n

You can see how roads become washed out with the rainy season. \u00a0Above, the lane to the left is used by traffic going in both directions as it’s the only smooth part of the road. \u00a0Thankfully this road does not see lots of traffic. \u00a0RFIS entrance is at the top if the hill.<\/p>\n

Ron spent 2 full Saturdays and more out playing in the dirt with a “truck” – filling in the rain made trenches, smoothing it out and crowning it so the future rains will run to the sides and not create new trenches.<\/p>\n

I’ll bet Handel was not thinking of this when he put music to the words of Isaiah.<\/p>\n

But I know God was able to imagine one day Ron making rough places plain in Africa using a tractor when he inspired Isaiah to write the verse.<\/p>\n
