house<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>There had been news of some rebel activity far to the East and North in the country, so we did keep our ears to the internet and TV just in case it became necessary to head to Cameroon for safety. \u00a0Missionary friends (in other\u00a0missions), did join us in Gamboula, having left Bangui. \u00a0So we had more visitors with us than we&#8217;d anticipated. \u00a0Thankfully the rebels stopped advancing toward the capital for the remainder of our stay. \u00a0Since then peace talks resulted in an agreement between the Government and Rebels. \u00a0Pray that both sides honor the agreement for the good of the innocents in CAR. \u00a0All in all, it was great to be away from our normal\u00a0responsibilities\u00a0and to hang out with good friends.<\/p>\n<p>Besides good friends and food, Christmas celebrations etc. our kids really enjoyed being with missionary friends the Turks and Festens. \u00a0The Turk family in Gamboula always have interesting pets. \u00a0This time it was a baby gorilla and a sitatounga (miniature deer) that kept the kids entertained.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1613\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1613\" style=\"width: 236px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/42\/2013\/01\/2012-12-Gla-gorilla-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1613\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/42\/2013\/01\/2012-12-Gla-gorilla-1-236x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"236\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/ziegelbaur\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/42\/2013\/01\/2012-12-Gla-gorilla-1-236x300.jpg 236w, http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/ziegelbaur\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/42\/2013\/01\/2012-12-Gla-gorilla-1.jpg 302w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 236px) 100vw, 236px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1613\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ben with the Turks&#8217; Nate hangin&#8217; with the sitatounga<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The trip home was uneventful &#8211; just a lot of dirt and dust on the first, bumpy part of the trip. \u00a0And we were pleased to be welcomed in our own home by the Norens who&#8217;d come to stay in our house. \u00a0Paul &amp; Sheryl had come to Yaounde for dental work; Karl &amp; Mary had come to get baby Esther&#8217;s first passport. \u00a0Both sets of Norens are staying here in the duplex behind our house for a little while. \u00a0They are most helpful &#8230;
