It was an honor to be invited.\u00a0 The twenty or so young\u00a0people from Central African Republic\u00a0had been invited to help Cameroon celebrate National Day the weekend of\u00a0May 20.\u00a0 On May 15 they were on a bus\u00a0nearing the Cameroon border when\u00a0the unexpected happened.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Four armed men came out from the side of the road and ambushed the\u00a0bus.\u00a0 Shots were fired,\u00a0valuables were stolen, and\u00a0the victims were treated harshly.\u00a0 Thankfully there was no loss of life.\u00a0 One of the chaperones was a nurse, Florentine, who\u00a0was able to\u00a0assist the wounded students.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

One of the students who was wounded is the niece of a friend of ours.\u00a0 Instead of performing with the dance troup this afternoon, she and Henri, another young child, lie in hospital beds waiting for surgery.\u00a0 Francine has a broken ankle, Henri a broken leg and both have bullets in their legs.\u00a0\u00a0A young man, Claudet, was also wounded and waits surgery to repair his broken leg.\u00a0 He too took a bullet to the leg.\u00a0 Florentine was given 2 stitches in her lower lip where she’d been hit.\u00a0<\/p>\n

I spent a couple hours at the Yaounde Central Hospital this afternoon in the emergency surgical ward checking up on Francine for her Uncle Mark and Aunt Germaine with whom she has lived for several years.\u00a0 Henri and Francine are in good spirits considering the trauma they’ve experienced, as well as the disappointment at being in the Yaounde\u00a0Hospital instead of the National Day Parade tomorrow.\u00a0 They’re to be transferred to the Pediatric Surgical ward tomorrow.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Please pray for the 3 who are waiting for surgery:\u00a0 Francine, Henri and Claudet\u00a0
\nPray for Florentine who is taking care of the 3 (feeding, cleaning etc.).\u00a0
\nPray that the\u00a0party taking responsibility will pay\u00a0the medical expenses\u00a0so the operations can be done.\u00a0
\nPray for the families in CAR who are not able to be with their hospitalized\u00a0children.<\/p>\n
