{"id":1152,"date":"2012-02-15T10:04:47","date_gmt":"2012-02-15T15:04:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/ziegelbaur\/?p=1152"},"modified":"2012-02-16T06:41:31","modified_gmt":"2012-02-16T11:41:31","slug":"cameroon-orientation-deja-vu-only-different","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/ziegelbaur\/?p=1152","title":{"rendered":"Cameroon Orientation: Deja Vu &#8211; Only Different"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It was January 1987.\u00a0 I, Janet, first stepped foot on the continent of Africa right here in Yaounde, Cameroon.\u00a0 At that time I was a missionary with Wycliffe and had come here for a 3 month Africa Orientation Course (AOC).<\/p>\n<p>Jump ahead 25 years to January 2012.\u00a0 Once again I&#8217;m here in Yaounde, but this time instead of being oriented to life in Africa, I got to assist at the orientation course for Wycliffe (and other) missionaries at the Cameroon Branch Orientation, or CAMBO.\u00a0 Being there was like deja vu, only different.<\/p>\n<p>This 5 week course was packed with helpful information and experiences, including 2 days specifically for orientation of\u00a0the children.\u00a0 Many changes have taken place in the orientation of new missionaries in the past 25 years.\u00a0 One very noticible\u00a0positive change was the inclusion of many Cameroonians as teachers\u00a0explaining their own cultures, language, polite manners, and\u00a0values.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1156\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1156\" style=\"width: 403px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/42\/2012\/02\/2012-02-Cambo-lecture.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1156\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/42\/2012\/02\/2012-02-Cambo-lecture.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"403\" height=\"302\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/ziegelbaur\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/42\/2012\/02\/2012-02-Cambo-lecture.jpg 403w, http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/ziegelbaur\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/42\/2012\/02\/2012-02-Cambo-lecture-300x224.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 403px) 100vw, 403px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1156\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Cameroonian colleagues gave several of the lectures.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1155\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1155\" style=\"width: 403px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/42\/2012\/02\/2012-02-Cambo-values.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1155\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/42\/2012\/02\/2012-02-Cambo-values.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"403\" height=\"302\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/ziegelbaur\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/42\/2012\/02\/2012-02-Cambo-values.jpg 403w, http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/ziegelbaur\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/42\/2012\/02\/2012-02-Cambo-values-300x224.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 403px) 100vw, 403px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1155\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Discussion of Cultural Values -
