{"id":3002,"date":"2012-04-23T09:00:36","date_gmt":"2012-04-23T14:00:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/ywupdate\/?p=3002"},"modified":"2012-04-18T12:14:11","modified_gmt":"2012-04-18T17:14:11","slug":"acts29-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/ywupdate\/2012\/04\/23\/acts29-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Acts29 Discipleship School Reflections"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3010\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/75\/2012\/02\/acts-29-altered-logo-tunnel-1024x419.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"664\" height=\"272\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/ywupdate\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/75\/2012\/02\/acts-29-altered-logo-tunnel-1024x419.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/ywupdate\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/75\/2012\/02\/acts-29-altered-logo-tunnel-300x122.jpg 300w, http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/ywupdate\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/75\/2012\/02\/acts-29-altered-logo-tunnel.jpg 1800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 664px) 100vw, 664px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>My experience in an Acts29 discipleship school (not to be confused with Mark Driscoll&#8217;s Acts29 Network) was formative to say the least. \u00a0Acts29 is a discipleship movement that began with the covenant partnership between the Covenant Churches of Ecuador and Sweden, and has now expanded to numerous countries like Congo, Chile, Finland, and India. \u00a0The reality is, strong discipleship opportunities for people my age are not all too common. \u00a0That the Lord brought me to India to continue being discipled and wrestling through what it looks like to follow Christ in a hands on, multi cultural experience, was life changing.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">While going through blog posts from my time in India between January and April of 2011 I came across this one that dug up a lot of wonderful memories. \u00a0It was written during a time of transition for our group&#8230;<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-3177\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/75\/2012\/04\/erica-198x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"198\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/ywupdate\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/75\/2012\/04\/erica-198x300.jpg 198w, http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/ywupdate\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/75\/2012\/04\/erica.jpeg 476w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 198px) 100vw, 198px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">&#8220;As we prepare to go on a thirty-six hour trek into the north of India: Dehradun, we all have mixed feelings.\u00a0 Our time here in Pune has been formative for the entire group, we have grown closer through debates, questions, fears, laughter and frustration.\u00a0 We have grown used to the constant business and insane rickshaw rides through the city.\u00a0 We will miss tea time at the convent, and laying on the terrace looking down on the street.\u00a0 We will miss our early morning devotions and singing songs about mopping the floor.\u00a0 We will miss candlelight devos in the chapel, and fighting about who does the dishes each meal.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">Most of all though we will miss the relationships here.\u00a0 Mrs. James, the Reverend and her amazing vision for women here in Indian society.\u00a0 Her passion for full equality and rights, and her bravery in standing up for them (at absolutely all costs).\u00a0 We will miss our churches we worked along side and the families who welcomed us into their homes for meals and fellowship.\u00a0 We will miss the woman who runs the elderly home, and all the women who live there that we sit with and sing with.\u00a0 We will miss the girls next door, who study hard and miss their families daily, who\u2019s names are the most important thing to remember.\u00a0 We will miss Auntie Sheila who runs the convent and always greets us with a smile and a hug, and makes sure we eat plenty.\u00a0 We will miss the three aunties that have taught us to flip Chapati bread with great skill.\u00a0 There is very rarely a burned piece these days.\u00a0 We will miss smiling and hugging them each day and laughing at our large amounts of miscommunication with them.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">And it is true, those are still, a year later, things our group misses. \u00a0As our time in India ended, we left to God&#8217;s next calling, which for a group of twenty four included; Sweden, Congo, Kenya, Mexico, Ecuador, the US, Finland and India, we continue to reflect on our time in India. \u00a0It&#8217;s amazing how God shaped us through those experiences, and those memories continue to impact us in our daily lives.
