God's love for you is unchanging and immovable. Count on it!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

You are so precious and so very special to God. His love for you is vast, overwhelming, unchanging and free. I hope you grasp fully the love of God for you, and I hope you are able to fully live into the truth that you do not need to sell yourself, sell out or buy in to the lies that are so readily promulgated by modern culture. You\u2019re terrific, just the way you are, and you don\u2019t need to adapt to fit someone\u2019s idea of what you should be. Accept that; live in to it.<\/p>\n

How can you help the young women and men in your life understand this?<\/p>\n

Some filmmakers\u2014not Christians, but astute and in tune with our culture\u2014have made a film that exposes the lies that we so easily believe about our identity as women.<\/p>\n

Please take a moment and review the three-minute<\/a> or eight-minute trailer<\/a> of Miss Representation<\/a>, a new movie. It speaks so powerfully of our cultural confusion about gender, the objectification of women and more.<\/p>\n

If you are in the Chicago area, there is a free screening on November 3 at 7pm in the auditorium of Northern Illinois University, 5555 Trillium Blvd., Hoffman Estates, IL. Admission is free, as is parking. The evening is hosted by Women of the ELCA and the Justice for Women program of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Following the screening, there will be a panel discussion.<\/p>\n

I plan to attend.\u00a0 I hope those of you who are local will join me. Others, keep your eyes open for other screenings.<\/p>\n
