{"id":503,"date":"2008-11-07T08:45:34","date_gmt":"2008-11-07T14:45:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/wc\/?p=503"},"modified":"2008-11-08T09:28:30","modified_gmt":"2008-11-08T15:28:30","slug":"wednesday-morning-in-chicago","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/wc\/2008\/11\/wednesday-morning-in-chicago\/","title":{"rendered":"Wednesday Morning in Chicago"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Please don&#8217;t miss this <a href=\"http:\/\/www.covchurch.org\/cov\/news\/item6687\">Reflection: A Vision of a New Day<\/a> written by Catherine Gilliard and posted in the Covenant News Report.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->I&#8217;m\u00a0privileged\u00a0to be in Chicago this week, working on worship plans for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.covchurch.org\/connection\">Connection<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.covchurch.org\/midwinter\">Midwinter<\/a> Conference. It&#8217;s always fun to journey from northern CO to Chicago, but it&#8217;s especially fun this time. The city is abuzz with joy about the election. I&#8217;m reminded of Paul&#8217;s admonition to the Roman Christians: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ibs.org\/bible\/verse\/index.php?q=Romans%2012&amp;tniv=yes&amp;v_mode=&amp;t_mode=\">Rejoice with those who rejoice<\/a>!\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m also encouraged that &#8220;Undone&#8221; is a timely theme for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chic2009.org\/\">CHIC 2009<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.covchurch.org\/connection\">pre-Midwinter Connection<\/a> conference. I can&#8217;t wait to worship with the Covenant worship leaders, pastors, youth leaders and all the staff and lay leaders who are forging and leading ministries of compassion, mercy and justice in our churches. I think it&#8217;s just brilliant that we will worshiping and learning together around the undone theme. Here&#8217;s what we mean by undone:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>It is an interesting thing to come in contact with the divine, for God seems\u00a0to undo the things we have spent so much time doing. The brilliant thing about that encounter is that after God has undone our work we are empowered to do all of the undone work of the Kingdom.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a small excerpt from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.covchurch.org\/cov\/news\/item6687\">Catherine&#8217;s reflection<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>This is our moment, as leaders of the church, to bring deeper discussion about race and the steps we need to take for authentic formation to emerge in this more hopeful nation. This is our moment, as leaders in the church, to authentically deepen our relationships with other cultures and ethnicities around the communion table that unites us in Christ.
