Is it temporal or atemporal or subtemporal or transtemporal? Is it something in which we can participate or is it something that we view, something done for us?\u00a0 Is it done in a building, a field, a workplace, a home, a coffeeshop, a pub, a laundromat, a city, a town, a village, an office, a subway, a car, a tractor, a wagon, or on foot?\u00a0 Is it done with friends or acquaintances or enemies?<\/p>\n<p>Is it loud or is it soft? Is it fast or slow? Is it happy or sad?<\/p>\n<p>Is it defined by what is available to us or is it defined as something we have to obtain? Can we obtain it at all, or is it given? Is it done at all or is it simply the way of things?<\/p>\n<p>Is it silent?<\/p>\n<p>Is it deafening?<\/p>\n<p>Is it individual or communal? Is it cultural, acultural, transcultural, supracultural, or intercultural? Is it of the people, by the people, for the people, to the people, from the people, or around the people?<\/p>\n<p>Is it active or passive?<\/p>\n<p>Is it for gathering, for comfort, for challenge, for engagement, for lament, for celebration, or for sending? Is it for us or from us or with us or within us? Is it about us at all or is it about denying ourselves, transient?<\/p>\n<p>Is it exhausting or refreshing?<\/p>\n<p>Is it a good at all, something with form, or is it something intangible, some sort of orientation that guides us? Is it a rule or a principle? Is it proactive or reactive? Does it build us up or tear us apart? Does it kill us or make us new? In addition to voice and guitar, he is also plays French Horn and Saxophone. His wife Liz is also a musician, and they have been married since 2004. They have three kids, a daughter named Aurora (Rori), a son named Caedmon (CJ), and a daughter named Brielle (Bria). He graduated with a self-designed B.A. in Music in Christianity from the University of Rochester, studying and writing on the interactions between music and the Christian faith in the postmodern paradigm. He received his M.A. from Asbury Theological Seminary in 2008 in Intercultural Studies, an Anthropology and Sociology degree that specializes in Christian Missions. He\u2019s been a missionary in Australia, India, Mexico, and Haiti, and has served as a worship pastor previously in Mitchell SD and Lenexa KS. His passion is to see worship become a missional endeavor, that the Church understand their faith in the broader context of the imitation of God and participation in the Kingdom of Heaven, rather than as an event on Sunday mornings. He hopes one day to do a PhD in Anthropology, studying how our worship practices ought to be understood in relationship to the changing cultural landscape of the Western world. Chris is also a photographer, and enjoys days out with his family and camera. He loves to read, to scuba dive, and to kayak.
