{"id":1115,"date":"2009-04-10T20:00:58","date_gmt":"2009-04-11T02:00:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/wc\/?p=1115"},"modified":"2009-04-10T05:14:25","modified_gmt":"2009-04-10T11:14:25","slug":"visual-devotions-for-holy-week-holy-saturday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/wc\/2009\/04\/visual-devotions-for-holy-week-holy-saturday\/","title":{"rendered":"Visual Devotions for Holy Week &#8211; Holy Saturday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--StartFragment--><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The drama and emotion of Good Friday is over.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>The crowds are gone, the cross is empty, and Jesus\u2019 body is in the tomb.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>It is <em>shabat<\/em> (the Sabbath).<span>\u00a0 <\/span>It is a time of waiting, of resting, for no labor can be done on shabat.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>Today, Holy Saturday, is a day for us to wait and rest too.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>It is a day to try and grasp all that has occurred this Holy Week; to try and make sense of it all.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>We have the perspective of history to help us, but for now\u2014just for a little while&#8212;see if you can feel what those who loved and followed Jesus felt on that Saturday long ago.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>In their grief and disillusionment, they did not remember all that Jesus had said and done to prepare them for this terrible event, nor were they able to theologize and make sense of this whole tragedy, using references from the prophets and other sacred writings.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>All they knew was that Jesus, their Rabbi\/Teacher, their Master\u2014the one they had followed, lived with, trusted\u2014was dead.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u00a0May these photos and readings help you to reflect and make <em>new<\/em> sense of the meaning of Christ\u2019s passion and death. They are part of the event that changed all of human history\u2014indeed, all of creation! There is so much here to ponder and glean.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>What new insights might the Holy Spirit bring to mind for you today?<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><strong>Readings for Holy
