Today I am going to share some of the artistic renderings of Christ that are in Jerusalem.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>May these images help you to ponder the deep meaning of this week and to give thanks for the incredible gift of God\u2019s love made manifest in the life of our Savior, Jesus.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Readings for Tuesday of Holy Week:<\/strong><span><strong>\u00a0 <\/strong><\/span><strong>Matthew 23:1-24:51, Mark 11:20-12:44. Luke 21:1-38, John 12:37-50<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/40\/2009\/03\/jerusalem-12.jpg\" rel=\"prettyPhoto[1010]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1012\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/40\/2009\/03\/jerusalem-12-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><!--StartFragment--><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">This mosaic depicts the agony of Jesus as he prayed in Gethsemane.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>It is inside the Church Of All Nations, above the rock where Jesus supposedly prayed.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>Notice the angel coming from heaven to strengthen him (Luke 22:43).<!--more--><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><!--StartFragment--><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/40\/2009\/03\/jerusalem-21.jpg\" rel=\"prettyPhoto[1010]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1013\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/40\/2009\/03\/jerusalem-21-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The Church of St. Peter in Gallicantu (Latin for \u201ccockcrow\u201d) is built over the alleged site of Caiaphas\u2019 house, where Peter denied Jesus.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>The church has several mosaics on its outer fa\u00e7ade depicting the events that occurred when Jesus was before Caiaphas, the high priest.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>This mosaic shows a shackled Jesus being questioned.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>The caption reads:<span>\u00a0 <\/span>\u201cThe Offenses At the House Of Caiaphas.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><!--StartFragment--><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/40\/2009\/03\/jerusalem-31.jpg\" rel=\"prettyPhoto[1010]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1014\" Jesus being lowered into the cell where he was imprisoned until Friday morning.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>The French speaks of a deep pit (\u201cfosse profonde\u201d).<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><!--StartFragment--><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/40\/2009\/03\/jerusalem-52.jpg\" rel=\"prettyPhoto[1010]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1016\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/40\/2009\/03\/jerusalem-52-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">A stained glass window inside the Condemnation Chapel on the Via Dolorosa, the road Jesus walked with his cross to the crucifixion.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>This church marks the second of the Fourteen Stations of the Cross:<span>\u00a0 <\/span>\u201cJesus Receives the Cross.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><!--StartFragment--><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/40\/2009\/03\/jerusalem-61.jpg\" rel=\"prettyPhoto[1010]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1017\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/40\/2009\/03\/jerusalem-61-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Crosses at the Holy Sepulcher Church, built over the most ancient and likely sites of Golgotha and the Tomb.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>This is the most holy Christian site in the world.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><!--StartFragment--><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/40\/2009\/03\/jerusalem-71.jpg\" rel=\"prettyPhoto[1010]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1018\"
