Welcome to Tim and Helen Smith’s brand new blog. We are excited about this new method of communication for us with all of you who are interested in us and our lives in America and Africa.
Thank you for your patience with us as we endeavor to learn how best to use this blog.
We hope to post updates here regularly so you can follow our travels across America in the next few months, visiting supporting individuals and churches to thank them personally and to let them know how they can be praying for us and our family in America and Africa.
We met in Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of Congo) in 1978 while we were serving as short term missionaries with the Evangelical Covenant Department of World Mission.
We were married August 4, 1979.
We have 3 children: Rebekah, Deborah, and Tim Jr. (who went to be with the Lord in July 2003.)
We served in Zaire again from 1984 until 1997 when the war forced the evacuation of all our personnel.
In 1999 we and Covenant World Mission agreed to partner with the Buenas Noticias Churches of Spain in church planting in Equatorial Guinea, Africa and we have been working there ever since.
Presently we are on a one year “Home Assignment” in the United States, visiting our supporters.
Tim’s ministry focus is Discipleship. Helen’s is outreach to women and children.
