They are Covenant missionaries to Mexico.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" style=\"margin: 4px\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2011\/07\/CI-DAMAS-photo-e1310188253805.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"296\" height=\"248\" \/>During the month of June, it was my privilege to lead a weekly Bible  study for thirty-five women at the Cuautitl\u00e1n Izcalli Covenant  Church.\u00a0 Theme:\u00a0 Transformed by the Word<\/p>\n<p>Weekly topics: praying Scripture, Scripture in everyday life, Psalms,  and the questions of Jesus. Each study included time for both group and  personal reflection.<\/p>\n<p>A highlight for the women was their group\u2019s dramatic representation  of one of the five Psalms we had studied. They used whatever props were  at hand in the meeting room.\u00a0 The group in the photo below acted out  Psalm 91 (\u201cWhoever goes to the Lord for safety, whoever remains under  the protection of the Almighty can say to him, \u2018You are my defender and  protector. You are my God; in you I trust.\u2019. . .\u201d).<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>These are just a few of the comments shared with me after the sessions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cAfter taking time to be quiet and reflect on Scripture passages, I  realize that I talk way too much and lots of what I say isn\u2019t really  that important.\u00a0 I am trying to be a better listener, to talk less,\u00a0 and  to be more thoughtful when I do talk.<\/li>\n<li>When we meditated on the passage in John 15 about Jesus saying we  are  his friends, God touched my heart in a tender way.\u00a0 I have such a   different understanding now about my relationship with God. We are   friends!<\/li>\n<li>When we talked about Scripture in everyday life, I chose to focus on  my employee ID badge.\u00a0 Now whenever I put it on, it reminds me that my  true identity is in Christ, that I am God\u2019s daughter.<\/li>\n<li>When our group was planning how we would act out our Psalm, we  really had to pay attention and think about what the words meant.\u00a0 When  we actually acted it out, the meaning\u00a0 struck me in a refreshing, deeper  way that has lasted.<\/li>\n<li>Jesus\u2019 question to his disciples, \u201cWho do you say I am?\u201d really got  to me.\u00a0 I realize that what I am saying about who Jesus is doesn\u2019t match  what is in my heart.\u00a0 I\u2019m very dry spiritually right now and I am using  the \u201cright\u201d words so the dryness doesn\u2019t show.\u00a0 Do you think we could  talk about this another day?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Yes, transformed by the Word!<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-report-this\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/serveglobally?moderation_action=report_form&object_type=post&object_id=376&width=250&height=300\" class=\"thickbox\" title=\"Report This Post\">Report This Post<\/a><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This article was originally posted on Tom and Janice Kelly&#8217;s blog.
