href=\"http:\/\/www.covchurch.org\/mission\/locations\/latin-america\/colombia\/\" target=\"_blank\">Colombia<\/a>, on his way to the         city Monter\u00eda to attend         the ministry couple encounter that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.covchurch.org\/mission\/gmsander\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mary Lou and Gary<\/a> were coordinating and         leading.\u00a0 It was going to be a 90         minute trip so Pastor Porfirio carefully chose his seat on the bus and got         comfortable.\u00a0 As Pastor Porfirio         passed through the town of Ceret\u00e9, he overheard one of the passengers on         the bus responding to a comment from another passenger regarding Evangelical         Christians.\u00a0 His ears perked up and         he paid attention.\u00a0 Pastor Porfirio         is very conscientious of what the public thinks of Christians because Pastor         Porfirio is constantly looking for ways to evangelize, preach, testify, and\/or         hold an evangelistic service on a street corner or in a park somewhere.\u00a0 He prepares evangelistic teams at the         Jehovah Nissi Covenant Church where he pastors.\u00a0 He encourages new believers and converts in his church to be         part of these teams.\u00a0 He emphasizes         and trains the people to \u201cget out there and share their faith.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"Pastor Porfirio\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kintera.com\/accounttempfiles\/account401803\/images\/eletter.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"320\" \/><\/p>\n<p><!--more-->The         passenger was saying that he really had no use for the Church.\u00a0 It hadn\u2019t ever done anything for him         and he saw it as a lot of words about things that he didn\u2019t understand and that         he wasn\u2019t interested in.\u00a0 That was         the case, however, until three weeks earlier.\u00a0 You see, this passenger was constantly looking around him,         out the window, as he was talking.\u00a0         One month earlier the passenger never would have looked out the window         of the bus.\u00a0 His eyesight was not         good enough to see any real distance.\u00a0         So he usually just paid attention to what was around him in his         immediate vicinity.\u00a0 But this day,         this Thursday afternoon, the passenger was talking out loud on the bus and was         looking around him.<\/p>\n<p>Three         weeks earlier, while he was walking through the town of San Carlos on his way         to work, he noticed a lot of people in the back yard of a house.\u00a0 People don\u2019t usually gather in San         Carlos in the back yard of a house unless something really interesting is going         on.\u00a0 So the passenger headed behind         the house to find out what was going on.\u00a0         He found out that there were some people from the U.S. there giving away         eye-glasses.\u00a0 Since he couldn\u2019t see         very well he decided to forego working and try to get a pair of glasses.\u00a0 When his turn came, he was examined,         tried on a few pair of glasses, and found the pair that corrected his eyesight!\u00a0 Just like that he could see.<\/p>\n<p>The         passenger admitted that he didn\u2019t really understand what was going on in that         backyard (it was a Dental and Eye-sight Brigade, put on by the Shekinah         Covenant Church, in partnership with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.firstcov.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Sacramento First Covenant Church<\/a> Men\u2019s         Ministry).\u00a0 He didn\u2019t know he was         entering into anything having to do with an Evangelical Christian Church.\u00a0 But once he got in line, he was willing         to forego any prejudice he might have, because he could see enough to know that         people were leaving there seeing!<\/p>\n<p>So         the man was responding to a comment from another passenger on the bus and         saying that, \u201cyou can say what you want about the Evangelical Church, but for         me, I couldn\u2019t see before three weeks ago and now I can.\u00a0 And the only reason I can see is         because this Evangelical Church in San Carlos had these people there helping         people to see\u2014for free!\u00a0 The only place         I know of that has done something like that is the Evangelical Church in San         Carlos.\u00a0 Something good must be         going on there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pastor         Porfirio wants to track down that passenger (he got off the bus when he         finished his story) and tell him what is going on in that Evangelical Church         (the Shekinah Covenant Church).\u00a0 We         want to continue partnering in putting hands and feet and eyes to the Gospel         and bringing it to the people.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.covchurch.org\/mission\/gmsander\/\" target=\"_blank\">Gary &amp; Mary Lou Sander<\/a><br \/>\nCovenant
