\"177\"<\/a>One of our hopes as a young family following God\u2019s call to Colombia and having the chance to raise our children there was to establish our Sander family in the country and have our experience in Colombia always be a positive aspect of who we are as a family. It is never a guarantee that an expatriate experience will be positive for a family.<\/p>\n

We always thought that evidence of this hope would be to see our children want to begin families of their own and be exci\"IMG_0652\"<\/a>ted to see what God would call them to be. For our children, being born in the U.S., being raised in Colombia, choosing to go to the U.S. for college and, at least for now, to begin careers and families in the U.S. has taken on its own path of transition, adaptation, cherishing and holding on to the past and moving into the future. Because of that, when we have been able to be in the U.S. and spend a night in the places where our adult children and their families are living we do so and continue to be a part of this aspect of \u201cfamily\u201d.<\/p>\n

So, in some ways, this past month we have experienced a part of \u201cthe joy set before us\u201d as we have been able to see with our own eyes and hold with our own arms the last of our adult children to start a family — our son, Skye, and daughter-in-law, Kasey with their daughter, Isla May.<\/p>\n
